Watch: Mavericks have a first-half lob party in Game 5

A decade ago, the Los Angeles Clippers were “Lob City.” Dallas might steal that nickname after Game 5.

Oklahoma City has a great defense, but it was helpless against the series of alley-oop dunks from the Mavericks in the first half. Four of them came off assists from Luka Doncic, who repeatedly found his teammates above the rim.

Dallas finished the first half with a 55-44 lead thanks to all those dunks. It also got a surprising shooting performance from a former dunk contest champion, Derrick Jones Jr. He hit three three-pointers in the first half and also notched two dunks for 15 first-half points.

While OKC couldn’t compete in the lob department, Jalen Williams did show that the Thunder have dunking talent of their own with a “man’s jam” late in the second.

If the Thunder can’t slow down the rim attack, they’ll regret dropping a pivotal home Game 5. The only thing they’ll be able to say is “oops.”
